Her song, “Teardrops On My Guitar” and later, “Our Song” topped billboard charts a year later, and Taylor was on her way to full-blown stardom.

Crowned in Curls

Queen of Beige

In 2008, Taylor dates Joe Jonas who infamously breaks up with her over a 27-second phone call. Taylor goes on to write famous breakup songs, “Last Kiss,” and “Forever and Always,” topping billboard charts and giving us a glimpse into her personal life.

She then goes onto win the award for best female video at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, during which Kanye interrupts her acceptance speech in a douchebaggery move, exlaiming, “Yo, Taylor, I’m really happy for you, I’ma let you finish, but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time!”

All the while, Taylor keeps it cool with her neutral makeup and beige-toned wardrobe.

Red Lips, Sink Ships

Nothing screams “sexy” like a perfectly defined red lip, and for a long time, this has been Taylor’s signature look. Although she does switch back to a nude lip often, the red lip stage is a far leap from her early days of ringlets and candy-pink lips.

During her red lip stage, Swift released her 4th album, Red, selling 1.21 million copies in its first week. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, ranking second in history for a female debut, after Britney Spears’ Oops!…I Did It Again.

Short Hair, Don’t Care
